Patient Coordinators

Patient Coordinators provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services, results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issues or queries. Patient Coordinators make most of the patient appointments with the GP’s, nurses and other healthcare professionals attached to the practice

They have a very difficult job dealing with telephone calls and enquiries from every direction, trying to please patients, GP’s, nurses and other team members whilst remaining calm, courteous, efficient, sympathetic and professional so please be patient with them.

If telephoning for an appointment, advice or home visit the patient coordinators may ask you for a few details. They have been trained to make these enquiries on our behalf so we may help you in the most appropriate and efficient way.

Our practice operates a zero-tolerance policy regarding verbal or physical attacks. Our Patient Coordinators are here to help you, to successfully provide these services a mutual respect between all the staff and patients has to be in place.

Training practice

The practice is proud to train the next generation of GPs.

We usually have one GP Specialty registrar with us at any one time who is a fully qualified doctor undergoing specialist postgraduate training in General Practice.

Our registrars undergo daily supervision by the GP Partners. Dr Furnival is our official trainer.

As a recognised training practice the trainee doctors (registrars) work with us for a period of 6 or 12 months. At some point we may seek your consent to video your consultation. The videos are used by the doctors training to be a GP to review their consultations with their trainers.

The recording is only of you and the doctor talking together; intimate examinations will not be recorded.

All recordings are carried out according to GMC guidelines, are stored securely and will be deleted after one year of recording and comply with GDPR regulations. No recording will be taken without your consent and the camera will be switched off on request.

You do not have to agree to your consultation being recorded so please advise your doctor. This will not affect your treatment in any way.

GP net earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings for GP’s working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GP’s working in Heswall & Pensby Group Practice in the last financial year was £84,166 before tax and National Insurance.

This is 1 full time GP and 13 part time GP’s who worked in the practice for more than six months.
