Patient Coordinators
Read more
They have a very difficult job dealing with telephone calls and enquiries from every direction, trying to please patients, GP’s, nurses and other team members whilst remaining calm, courteous, efficient, sympathetic and professional so please be patient with them.
If telephoning for an appointment, advice or home visit the patient coordinators may ask you for a few details. They have been trained to make these enquiries on our behalf so we may help you in the most appropriate and efficient way.
Our practice operates a zero-tolerance policy regarding verbal or physical attacks. Our Patient Coordinators are here to help you, to successfully provide these services a mutual respect between all the staff and patients has to be in place.
Training practice
Myrtle Group is a proud training practice for clinicians both undergraduate and postgraduate. As a practice we have a keen interest in training and education. It is our belief that we can help improve the future of primary care in the UK through education and training new clinicians. Each clinician usually stay with us on placement 6-12 months.
You may see a doctor in their first few years following qualification or a GP in training at either of our sites. These doctors are fully supported by qualified GPs in practice and are always able to get advice from a qualified GP if needed.
You may see the following doctors at Myrtle Group:
Student Doctors – These are students training to be a doctor (before they have qualified). You will also be seen by a qualified GP if you see a student doctor.
Foundation doctors F1 and F2 – These are fully qualified doctors that are in their first 2 years following qualification as a doctor. They have often worked as doctors in hospitals and A&E prior to a primary care placement. They can always access support from a qualified GP.
Physician associate student – These are students training to become Physician Associates (before they have qualified). You will also be seen by a qualified GP if you see a student physician associate.
GP Specialist Trainees (Registrars), GP ST – These are doctors undergoing specialist training to become a GP. They are fully qualified doctors who have worked for several years in hospital specialties before starting specialist training to be a GP. GP ST1 doctors are in their first years of specialist GP training, GP ST2 are in year 2 and GP ST3 are in their final year of training to become a GP. They always have access to support from a fully qualified GP.
Student Nurses – These are student nurses (before they have qualified). They shadow our clinician’s consultations.
Our trainee clinicians undergo daily supervision. Dr Furnival is our training lead.
We may seek your consent to video your consultation. The videos are used by the doctors training to be a GP to review their consultations with their trainers.
The recording is only of you and the doctor talking together; intimate examinations will not be recorded.
All recordings are carried out according to GMC guidelines, are stored securely and will be deleted after one year of recording and comply with GDPR regulations. No recording will be taken without your consent and the camera will be switched off on request.
You do not have to agree to your consultation being recorded so please advise your doctor. This will not affect your treatment in any way.
Zero Tolerance Statement
Myrtle Group supports the UK Government’s NHS zero-tolerance policy for abusive or threatening behaviour towards its staff, including staff within our practice.
We are committed to a strict policy of zero tolerance in response to any sort of discrimination, harassment, bullying or abuse regarding a person’s disability, race, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religious beliefs, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity or socio-economic background.
We take allegations of threatening, abusive, humiliating, anti-social, violent or hurtful behaviour against any of our colleagues or patients very seriously and we fully support and encourage anyone who has experienced this or witnessed a colleague who tolerated this to come forward. No act is considered to be too small to be addressed.
We will not tolerate the use of bad language, swearing, or verbal insults. We will not accept persistent, vexatious or unrealistic demands that cause stress to our staff. We reserve the right to immediately cease communication in cases where such behaviour is displayed.
We welcome and encourage the public to access our services when needed, but we do ask that staff are always treated courteously, and you are entitled to expect the same treatment and respect from them.
We hope that you welcome our zero-tolerance approach, which is in place to protect the interests of our hard-working colleagues as well as all the patients and community we serve.
GP net earnings
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings for GP’s working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GP’s working in Myrtle Group in the last financial year was £91,062 before tax and National Insurance.
This is 1 full time GP and 12 part time GP’s who worked in the practice for more than six months.
