Myrtle Group – merger news

As of today, 1st May 2024 we have merged to become Myrtle Group.

Myrtle Group consists the two individual surgeries of Heswall & Pensby Surgery and Commonfield Road Surgery following approval by the Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care Board.

Working together to deliver excellent medical care and enhanced services to our local patient population, across two sites.
We are proud to participate in primary care research and education and to work closely with Healthier West Wirral Primary Care Network.
WHY ARE WE MERGING?

Primary care is changing all the time. We have been working closely together as we are both part of the Healthier West Wirral Primary Care Network, but we now believe that merging our two practices into one larger practice will be beneficial. We will have a larger staff team, a wider skill-mix across our clinicians and this make us more resilient to the changes that come from government.

WHAT WILL THIS MERGER MEAN FOR YOU AS A PATIENT?

The merger of our two practices is exciting and gives us stability going forward, which helps us cope with the ever-changing landscape of primary care. In reality, there will be little change for patients on a day-to-day basis.

YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR USUAL HEALTHCARE PROFFESSIONAL

We expect that the vast majority of patients will attend their usual practice and be able to see a GP, Nurse, Pharmacist or Physician’s Associate in the same way they do now.

WILL THERE BE ANY NEW SERVICES ON OFFER?

Yes, we have a wide skill-mix across our clinical team at both sites, so it may be the case that we offer, for example, coil fitting or minor surgery more widely to more patients.

HOW DO YOU CONTACT THE PRACTICE?

For appointments, please use PATCHS via the practice website. For any other queries, please contact your usual practice in the usual way.

WE WILL STILL OFFER HOME VISITS

Home visits are reserved for patients who are bed-bound, or unable to attend without significant assistance. All home visit requests are ‘triaged’ by a GP, and it may be that

after triage we offer you an appointment or manage the problem in a different way.

Please see our home visiting policy for more information.
