Coils & Implants

All GP’s offer routine contraception and sexual health advice.

In addition to this Dr Polley, Dr Nelson and Dr Wood are trained in fitting and removing coils and implants. Dr Furnival is trained in fitting and removing implants.

Patients will be booked for a telephone consultation to assess that you are suitable for the chosen contraception method.

Minor Surgery

Dr Winters and Dr Wood are responsible for minor surgery. Sessions for minor surgery are arranged as required.

Cryotherapy Clinic

Cryotherapy Clinics are conducted by Dr Woollons and are used for the removal of uncomplicated skin lesions such as warts, skin tags.

Anti Coagulation monitoring

Anti Coagulation medication can be either via:

  • Warfarin which requires frequent monitoring with the nurse to ensure the correct weekly dose to administer
  • Tablet form (for example Apixaban/Edoxoban) which requires regular blood tests every (3, 6 9 or 12 months) at the surgery with our phlebotomist. Your blood results will be reviewed by a clinician and you will be contacted if the clinician feels that you need to amend your dosage.

Chronic Disease Monitoring

All patients who have had a diagnosis of any of the conditions listed below will be offered a review at least annually with a doctor or a nurse. Regular monitoring of patients with a chronic disease is designed to pick up any changes in health early, remind patients about what they can do to keep themselves well and check that medication is working properly. The practice will send you a letter or text every year asking you to attend a clinic.

For many of these conditions you will need to have a blood test at least a week before your clinic appointment. You will be given details when you are contacted. Please give the practice your email address and mobile phone number if you have them, so that we can communicate with you as efficiently as possible.

Clinics for the following conditions may be run by a doctor or a nurse:

Mental health conditions, dementia, epilepsy, thyroid disorders, learning disabilities, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, heart disease, stroke, chronic kidney disease and impaired glucose tolerance.

PLEASE NOTE YOUR APPOINTMENT MUST BE AT LEAST 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO TRAVEL. If we are unable to vaccinate, you will need to book in with the Well Travelled Clinic (details below)
