Maternity Care
All our doctors offer antenatal care, usually in co-operation with the maternity department at Arrowe Park Hospital. Special sessions are held for antenatal patients, at which the community midwife is usually in attendance.
Nurse Practitioner
We have appointments with our Nurse Practitioners Jayne Hennessy & Emma Holden running throughout the week. They are able to help with many conditions including Asthma, Chest infections, coughs and colds, contraception, skin/wound infections, earache, diarrhoea and vomiting and urine infections. Please ask a receptionist for more information when booking your appointment.
Phlebotomy
We have a permanent phlebotomist at the surgery, who runs our phlebotomy service with the additional support from our HCA’s, GP Assistant and nurses.
Family Planning
Family planning advice can be given by any of our doctors. Dr Nelson, Dr Polley and Dr Wood have had specialised family planning training and are available to counsel. Dr Nelson, Dr Polley and Dr Wood are responsible for coil fittings. Appointments are arranged as required.
Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening
We regard these simple screening checks as very important and operate a recall system for all our women patients between the ages of 25 and 65 who wish to be included.
Child Development Surveillance
These examinations are undertaken at six weeks at the practice. If you have a young baby, your doctor will discuss these examinations with you.
Immunisations
Child
Routine immunisations are a very important part of preventative medicine and we strongly recommend that your children have the required immunisations. Please ask your health visitor, practice nurse or GP for an up-to-date schedule.
It is very important to check features of your child’s development at certain stages in their first five years.
Please attend at the appropriate time as recommended by your health visitor.
Flu and Pneumonia
Influenza vaccination is recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes.
All over 65s are eligible for the flu and pneumonia vaccine. You will be invited in Autumn to book an appointment when you become eligible.
